2018 is in full swing, and you might be in the process of planning your vacations for the year. Whether you are getting ready for Spring Break, or the summer season, you certainly want to get ahead and plan your ideal vacation. As with a new year, comes new destinations to see. There is so much out there in the world waiting for you to explore. However, due to the enormous amount of options, it can be challenging to narrow it down to your top choices. With that in mind, you want to take into consideration what you are hoping to gain from the vacation and seek destinations that can satisfy those needs. Here is a quick list of some of the most popular destinations for 2018.

 

Ahu Dubai

Recently, Dubai has reached the top of many people’s bucket list in terms of where they want to visit and for good reason. The country is the host of many superlatives such as the world’s tallest building (Burj Khalifa at 2,717 feet), the world’s largest indoor theme park (IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world’s largest man-made marina, and the first ever rotating skyscraper which is set to open in 2020. If you’re interested in fine art and architecture, you would love the Louvre Abu Dubai designed by Jean Nouvel, along with the Guggenheim Abu Dubai by Frank Gehry and a new Performing Arts Center by Zaha Hadid Architects which is set to come in the next few years. All these new developments could turn the U.A.E into the new cultural capital of the world.

 

Detroit, MI, USA

Over the last few years, the Motor City has been gaining some serious momentum, and due to its improved infrastructure and the building of new chic hotels, 2018 might be its years to take center stage. They recently launched the QLine streetcar which makes it easier to get around the city. They also saw the opening of the Detroit Foundation Hotel that took the place of the former Fire Department Headquarters, which boasts 100 sleek rooms and a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Lents. The city is also buzzing with new ideas like the three new parks that will extend the riverfront trail making it ideal for biking with the new 43-station bike share scheme in the greater downtown Detroit area.

 

Bangkok, Thailand

The tourism in Thailand is as robust as ever before. In 2016, over twenty-one million international visitors made their way to the country’s capital of Bangkok which made it the most visited city in the world. This year, due to the large influx of tourists, the metropolis is looking to bring in a plethora of new hotels. Starting with the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok which will have a spa, rooftop bar, and outdoor infinity pool which will overlook the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. They also have the Bangkok Edition set to open this summer in MahaNakhon which will feature 155 rooms. Art lovers will enjoy the bevy of brand-new multi-purpose creative spaces they can explore like the Thailand Creative and Design Center, Warehouse 30 which features a series of WWII-era warehouses revamped by Duangrit Bunnag; and ChangChui which is an immense complex of bars, shops, and restaurants constructed from upcycled materials.
