One of the best things about Queensland is its beaches. However, that is not the case for the state capital of Brisbane which is set on a flood plain and braces the banks of the caramel-colored Brisbane River. That shouldn’t deter you, however, because you can still enjoy South Bank’s Streets Beach which is an artificial lagoon-style swimming pool that comes with white sandy beaches, bubbling creeks, and a shady tropical garden. Entrance is free, and it is a great way to escape the immense summer heat in Brisbane and has a variety of markets and museums you can check out.
